Cycloidal speed reducers can be installed in several ways depending on the layout and application requirements. The most common options include:

  • Foot-mounted installation, used for stable, horizontal setups
  • Flange-mounted installation, ideal for vertical mounting or compact spaces
  • Torque arm installation, designed to absorb reaction forces during operation
  • Shovel base installation, to ensure stable support and convenient positioning for maintenance or adjustment

A cycloidal speed reducer works by turning high-speed motor rotation into slower, stronger motion. Inside the reducer, the input shaft is connected to an eccentric bearing that makes the cycloidal disc move in a circular, wobbling motion.
The lobes on the disc roll against pins inside the housing instead of sliding like in traditional gears. This rolling contact transfers motion smoothly and reduces friction and wear. Since the number of lobes on the cycloidal disc is slightly different from the number of pins, each full rotation of the input shaft makes the disc shift slightly in the opposite direction. This small difference between the two creates the speed reduction effect. As a result, the output shaft rotates more slowly but with much greater torque, providing the strong, steady power needed to handle heavy loads efficiently.
